Bikers for Babies was a God Given, Spirit led idea of Patrick Rusmisel. He saw that there was a need in Martinsville &Henry County, Virginia and the surrounding areas to educate people that God has a purpose for every life that is conceived and the abortion of these lives is not what God our Father wants. The purpose of the annual charity ride is to educate as well as raise funds to support the Pregnancy Care Center of Martinsville/Henry County located at 314 Fairy Street Ext. In 2013 Patrick recruited the help of a fellow church member named J. Santoemma to assist him in chairing this event. With his help and the help of many others such as Melissa Jamison, Patrick’s wife Patsy, the executive director of the Pregnancy Center, Bryan Keith and a whole lot of volunteers mostly from Patrick & J’s church New Life Community Church of Ridgeway Virginia, the ride has increased in attendees as well as funds raised for the Pregnancy Center.

The event is held annually on the fourth Saturday of August. The ride starts at the large parking lot in the center of Martinsville’s Uptown area off Broad Street and the ending location has changed to different locations over the last few years. The ride starts a Noon and takes about 2 hours to complete. A lunch with dessert is served and door prizes are awarded. There are also T-shirts available and a 50/50 raffle.
